Crab paste is a Thai condiment made by fermenting crushed shrimp.
This is a tasty addition to all kinds of Asian soups, such as Thai Beef Noodle soup or Vietnamese Bun Rieu soup. Also good with fried rice, and some cooks put a bit of this in their Pad Thai. Use it to give curries and rice dishes a deep fermented flavour.
